Quotation Monday

Quotation Monday is something I've come up with to share some of my favorite quotes from really great novels, movies, lyrics, etc.

Todays quote comes from Bernhard Schlink's novel (turned movie) The Reader:

"I'm not frightened. I'm not frightened of anything. The more I suffer, the more I love. Danger will only increase my love. It will sharpen it, forgive its vice. I will be the only angel you need. You will leave life even more beautiful than you entered it. Heaven will take you back and look at you and say: Only one thing can make a soul complete and that thing is love.”

Why I Love It: Possibly the most romantic quote ever. I absolutely fell in love with this amazing movie and quickly went out to buy the novel asap. If you haven't seen it/ read it, go, right this second, and buy it.

Quotation Monday

Quotation Monday is something I've come up with to share some of my favorite quotes from really great novels, movies, lyrics, etc.

Today's quote comes from Gayle Forman's novel If I Stay:

"If you stay, I'll do whatever you want. I'll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I'll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it would be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I'd do it. I can lose you like that, if I don't lose you today. I'll let you go. If you stay."

Why I love it: If you haven't read this book, stop what you're doing right now. Right this second. Now go to your library, amazon, or local bookstore and buy it. You will probably need to buy a box of tissues (or three) while you're at it. It's one of those once in a life time stories that touch you and breath life into you. It's painful, raw, and true. The reason I chose this quote is because it speaks of the volumes of love Adam has for Mia. He would do anything for her, even leave her if that's what she wants. He just wants her to live.
Unselfish Acts of Love= Win.

Quotation Monday

Quotation Monday is something I've come up with to share some of my favorite quotes from really great novels, movies, lyrics, etc.

In corresponding with the "heavy" book I just read (see: "Forbidden" by Tabitha Suzuma Review), today's quote is going to be a little different. For starters, it's not a quote at all, but a poem. It's also not the most uplifting one out there. However, it has truth and power and that's my kick this week.

"The Ballad of Reading Gaol" by Oscar Wilde

Yet each man kills the thing he loves
By each let this be heard,
Some do it with a bitter look,
  Some with a flattering word,
The coward does it with a kiss,
The brave man with a sword!

Some kill their love when they are young,
  And some when they are old;
Some strangle with the hands of Lust,
Some with the hands of Gold:
The kindest use a knife, because
The dead so soon grow cold.

Some love too little, some too long,
  Some sell, and others buy;
Some do the deed with many tears,
  And some without a sigh:
For each man kills the thing he loves,
Yet each man does not die.

Quotation Monday

Quotation Monday is something I've come up with to share some of my favorite quotes from really great novels, movies, lyrics, etc.

In honor of Valentine's Day I'm going to be sharing TWO quotes. One for those Pro Valentines Day and one for those of of you that are Anti-V-Day.

The first comes from none other than the novel Eclipse. I hear romance and automatically think of Edward Cullen. Also, I had to give Twilight some mention since Breaking Dawn Part 1 was just released on DVD Friday.

"Before you my life was like a moonless night. Very dark, but there were stars- points of light and reason. And then you shot across my sky like a meteor. Suddenly everything was on fire, there was brilliancy, there was beauty. When you were gone, when the meteor had fallen over the horizon, everything went black." -Edward Cullen

A lot of people claim to hate Twilight, and hey, to each their own, but for me, I will always love it. No matter how much of a fad it becomes it's still epically romantic. And I'm definitely one of those Pro-Valentine's-Dayers.

The next quote comes from Cassandra Clare's City of Glass and is for those of you who loathe Valentine's Day and all of it's partcipants.

"Unfortunately, you never really hate anyone so much as someone you once cared about."- Jace Wayland.

If you want a difficult romance that is on the verge of impossible, then you should definitely check out Clary and Jace from the Mortal Instruments series. Their relationship is never easy.

Quotation Monday

"Quotation Monday" is something I've come up with to share some of my favorite quotes from really great novels, movies, lyrics, etc.

Today's quote comes from Courtney Crumrin and the Night Things, a graphic novel series.

"As far as I can tell, we, the geeks have won. We're smarter, we're independent, we're more courageous, and we value each other more than the kids who fit in without effort, blending in and never really getting to know themselves. Sure it'll be a rough eight or ten years but at the end of it, you'll be a conscious, brilliant, confident woman, with a loving, like-minded community and your own unique style. It's worth the pain you feel right now. Trust me. And grown-up geek boys do make the best partners."
