Follow Friday

Q: Have you broken up with a series? If so, which one and why?

This is a tough issue for me, because I'm a "completion-ist". I dragged myself through all 13 of the Sookie Stackhouse books even though I loathed the last 5 or 6. However I did just recently start the Black Dagger Brotherhood series, and I will tell you right now I have no intention of picking up book two! I loved the story/ plot and Beth, but I HATED the how cliche and cheesy the Vamp Warriors were portrayed. Just not my thing.

  1. Hopping through. I got hooked on BDB - although I've only read the first three. It's candy but it sucked me in.

  6. I wanted to read Sookie, because that title's been popping up for some reason, lately... but it seems it's broken up with a lot of people! Well then... Maybe something else :)

I'm a new follower by the way. And because I saw your sidebar... Team Jem! HAHA! Though I have no complaints with how that series ended. All is well :)

    1. Haha I love Jem too! But I just adored Will. I couldn't help it. I think your the only person I've heard say they didn't have any complaints with the end! I agree though, I loved the way it ended. So perfect <3

  8. I'm a completionist, too, but if a series is longer than 3 books I do have to question whether I can really justify finishing it. I'd rather spend my money on books I know I'll enjoy!

  11. I'm someone that must trudge through a series too. There's only one time that I really ditch a series and that's if I didn't like the first book, but if I liked the first two books I have to complete the entire series.

I actually don't mind the Sookie Stackhouse series but I was certainly starting to feel like it was dragging a bit in book 10-11 so I'm glad Charlaine Harris decided to finally end it, I think Authors get attached to their characters, like we do, and it's like saying goodbye to an old friend so it would be harder for them to let go. However, a good story must always come to an end ;)

I'm quite surprised about your thoughts on the Brotherhood series as I've heard a lot of people recommending that, I'll check out the first book and go from there.
