Quotation Monday is something I've come up with to share some of my favorites quotes from really great novels, lyrics, movies, etc.
Today's quote comes from Kate Chopin's "The Awakening"
"...but whatever came, she had resolved never again to belong to another than herself."
There is something very empowering for women in The Awakening and this quote sums it up perfectly. Of course, there's heartache and loss, but at it's heart, I believe it is about keeping part of yourself, just for yourself. To not lose yourself in romantic relationships to the point where you don't even recognize who you are anymore. And as anyone who's ever been a teenager "in love" can admit, it's scary just how easily that can happen. I think it's all about breaking the enslavement's others have on you, and being free to belong to yourself. Anyway, this is a very fantastic, romantic classic and I highly recommend it.
Hope everyone is enjoying their Monday!
