On my wishlist is a weekly meme now hosted by Cosy Up Books where bloggers get the chance to showcase their top books (old or new) on their wishlist. And it's not just books, it's anything book related!
For the past two weeks I keep going to Go Hastings to buy:
"Partials" by Dan Wells. Alas, the life of a college student means I will be in debt for the next forever.
From Goodreads: Humanity is all but extinguished after a war with partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the world’s population. Reduced to only tens of thousands by a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island. The threat of the partials is still imminent, but, worse, no baby has been born immune to the disease in over a decade. Humanity’s time is running out.
When sixteen-year-old Kira learns of her best friend’s pregnancy, she’s determined to find a solution. Then one rash decision forces Kira to flee her community with the unlikeliest of allies. As she tries desperately to save what is left of her race, she discovers that the survival of both humans and partials rests in her attempts to answer questions of the war’s origin that she never knew to ask.
Combining the fast-paced action of The Hunger Games with the provocative themes of Battlestar Galactica, Partials is a pulse-pounding journey into a world where the very concept of what it means to be human is in question—one where our sense of humanity is both our greatest liability, and our only hope for survival.
I read this book, it was really good! Try your local library, they have saved me so much money since I borrow lots of books :)
ReplyDeleteMy local library is kind of short on anything that's not old lady books haha. But I'm going to see if I can't order it in from another one :]
DeleteGood choice! I'll have to add it to my list. Here is my link for this week: http://reviewsbymolly.com/on-my-wish-list-3-31-2012/ New follower as well.
ReplyDeleteThis one looks good 0_0 I've been seeing it everywhere. Great to meet another fan of YA and urban fantasy!

I haven't heard about this book, but I must confess I'm a little scared with how many sci-fi/dystopian/whatsoever books are coming out lately... Some are awesome, but some are just so bad that I'm reluctant in giving a try to some of them...

That's true! But I've heard from friends that this one is pretty awesome and it has a fairly high rating on Goodreads, so I figure it's worth a shot.
DeleteI'm just finishing this now. It's good! Thanks for taking part and stopping by!
